There’s a new way to recycle in the Comox Valley.
The solar-powered Return-It Express & GO station has been set up outside the Independent Grocer at Comox Mall.
The Express & GO station operates using solar energy and is housed within a 20-foot repurposed shipping container. After creating an account on-line ( express.return-it.ca ), residents can bring their containers to the station in a sealed and clear bag, and simply drop them off.
Refunds would then be deposited into associated accounts, with a choice of receiving funds through e-Transfer or cheque.
Alternatively, refunds can be donated to registered local community groups or charitable organizations.
The Town of Comox says the interim solution recognizes the gap in service until a larger multi-material recycling depot is established.
