North Island filmmakers are being invited to take part in the third annual Locals’ Showcase, celebrating short films created in the region.
The event highlights films produced by filmmakers from northern Vancouver Island, giving audiences a chance to experience a wide range of local stories, styles and genres. New, emerging and professional filmmakers are all encouraged to submit their work.
Short films of 25 minutes or less, in any genre, are eligible, with submissions open until February 17. Filmmakers from across the North Island Film Commission region are welcome to participate.
The Locals’ Showcase will be held March 3 at the Tidemark Theatre in Campbell River. The evening begins with a pre-show gathering for ticket holders and filmmakers at 5:30 p.m., followed by the screening at 7 p.m.
Tickets are now on sale for $20 through the Tidemark Theatre box office and website. The showcase is presented by the Campbell River Festival of Film, a volunteer-run organization that supports local filmmaking and provides bursaries and equipment funding for the community.
