The City of Courtenay says that there was a cougar sighting Wednesday behind the North Island College buildings.

In a post on Facebook, the City was asking residents to use caution and be observant in the area.

If you spot wildlife, particularly if it is showing aggressive or threatening behaviour, call the BC Conservation Officer Call Service at 1-877-952-7277.

Find more information about cougars at Government of British Columbia.

Keeping Our Word

The word "éy7á7juuthem" means “Language of our People” and is the ancestral tongue of the Homalco, Tla’amin, Klahoose and K’ómoks First Nations, with dialectic differences in each community.

It is pronounced "eye-ya-jooth-hem."
