Comox Strathcona Waste Management continues to look for feedback as it develops a long-term vision of solid waste management for the region.
The new solid waste management plan will outline how garbage, recycling, yard, and food waste programs are managed over the next decade.
The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change Strategy recommends that Plans be renewed every ten years.
It was last updated in 2012, while the CSWM service area has grown 13 percent, and is expected to continue to grow.
CSWMm is inviting residents to take a behind-the-scenes tour of landfill and compost facilities later this month to see how they manage solid waste in the region.
The first is happening on Saturday, September 14th at the landfill on Bevan Road in Cumberland from 9am to 12:30pm.
Pre-registration is required and can be completed at Comox Strathcona Waste Management.
The Organics Facility Tour at the Regional Organics Compost Facility on Argonaut Road in Campbell River goes Saturday, September 21st from 9:30am to 11:45am.
The community can provide feedback, until 4pm on Wednesday, September 25th.
