Spring is here, and the cherry trees at City Hall are beginning to bloom.

To make it easier for residents and visitors to enjoy the display of blossoms, the City of Campbell River is providing picnic tables on the front lawn of City Hall.

The outdoor seating area will be available during the daytime starting today, until the trees finish blooming.

The cherry trees were a gift from Ishikari, Campbell River’s sister city in Japan.

Ishikari presented Campbell River with 25 cherry trees in 2008 to mark the 25th anniversary of the twinning of the two communities.

More information about Ishikari and the sister-city relationship is available at City of Campbell River.
