The City of Campbell River has again activated a warming centre at the Campbell River Community Centre, in response to the low overnight temperatures and winter weather.
It was open last night and will open again this evening at 10pm, til 7am Wednesday, for a place for vulnerable people to get in out of the cold.
The warming centre is staffed by individuals with experience supporting people experiencing homelessness.
The City says it's a collaborative effort involving City staff, local social service organizations, volunteers, and contractors.
Funding for the warming centre is provided by the Province through Emergency Management and Climate Readiness, with additional support from the City.
