An overnight fire yesterday displaced residents of a supportive housing complex on Dogwood Street in Campbell River.
Crews were called out around 2:30 a.m. Wednesday.
While all residents of the 50-unit building were evacuated, the fire was contained to one apartment unit. No serious injuries were reported.
“Due to the prompt response of the City Fire Department, the fire was contained to a single apartment unit,” said Campbell River Mayor Kermit Dahl.
“Thank you to the Fire Department, RCMP, BC Emergency Health Services, BC Transit, and Emergency Support Services volunteer team members who supported this response.”
The Strathcona Regional District activated a reception centre at the Campbell River Community Centre for affected residents.
