BC Transit has launched a redesigned website aimed at making it easier for riders to find information and plan their trips.

The new look for BCTransit.com focuses on the tasks customers use most often, allowing users to quickly access routes, schedules, fares and service alerts.

BC Transit says the redesign reflects feedback gathered from riders across the province.

The agency adds the site is now built on a modern digital platform designed to improve performance, reliability and support future updates.

Other improvements include a simplified layout that highlights key rider information and improved navigation intended to reduce the number of clicks needed for trip planning.

The site also features a mobile-friendly design that works consistently across devices, along with an accessible layout that meets the latest Web Content Accessibility Guidelines, which outline standards for making web content more accessible to people with disabilities.

BC Transit says it will continue refining the site following the launch, noting some features may behave unexpectedly at first and will be adjusted as issues are identified.

The agency is also inviting riders to share feedback on the new website.

Another round of public engagement is planned for May through BC Transit’s Voice of the Rider platform, with customers encouraged to participate in an upcoming survey.

The website redesign project had an approved budget of $3.8 million and was jointly funded by the Province of British Columbia and local government partners.

The work was completed in two phases and included moving the site to a new content management system, securing a new hosting provider and redesigning the overall user experience.
