Members of the BC Teachers’ Federation have voted to ratify a new collective agreement.
The deal is based on the province’s 2025 Balanced Measures Mandate and includes additional funding aimed at supporting classrooms.
That funding will help increase the number of counsellors, learning assistance teachers, and special education resource teachers, while also introducing measures to address teacher workloads.
The BC Teachers’ Federation represents more than 52 thousand teachers working in public schools across the province.
B.C.’s 60 boards of education are expected to vote on the agreement today.
The provincial government says negotiations under the Balanced Measures Mandate are intended to maintain labour stability while protecting key public services.
Nearly 213-thousand public sector workers in B.C. are currently covered by ratified or tentative agreements reached through the bargaining process.
