The Comox Valley Regional District has lifted the remaining water quality advisory for the Comox Harbour foreshore.

The advisory was put in place following a sewer leak from the Comox Pump Station on May 26.

Recent water samples collected August 24 found bacteria levels well below Island Health guidelines for swimming and other marine recreational activities.

Sediment samples collected throughout June and July also showed there is no remaining risk to recreational activities.

The Regional District says all marine recreational activities can now safely resume in the previously affected foreshore area.

Officials thanked residents, K’ómoks First Nation, harbour users, local businesses, and partner agencies for their patience and cooperation during the response and recovery.
