On June 10th, the Village of Cumberland is hosting a free day-long event to mark the 125th anniversary of the incorporation of Cumberland.
The day includes live music, cultural performances, lots of food, interactive art, a new exhibition at the Cumberland Museum, lantern making and more.
“Belonging 125” is meant to be a day to reflect on the path that has brought residents to today and to renew a commitment to create space in the community for past, present and future Villagers.
A special workshop will be held for residents to learn about the work of creating a culture of belonging for Allies. The Village says tools for contributing to a community that is rooted in decolonization & Indigenous cultural safety will be offered.
Leading up to the event, villagers past and present are asked to take a few minutes to add their thoughts and experiences, through “You Are Here,” an interactive project designed for anyone who’s experienced connection or disconnection, compassion or indifference, belonging or longing.
