The Village of Cumberland is set to present proposed climate actions to the community that will help the Village reach its greenhouse gas emission reduction targets.

Two engagement sessions are being held this May.

The first one is on Thursday, May 2, 2024, from 4:30-7:00pm at the Village Council Chambers at 2675 Dunsmuir Avenue.

The second is an online discussion on May 7, 2024, from 12:00-1:00pm via Zoom. Please email planning@cumberland.ca for the meeting link.

Residents can iview the proposed actions, offer feedback, and help identify any gaps they see.

The Village has developed a number of proposed actions, targeting 2050 as the date to achieve net zero greenhouse gas emissions.

Some of the highlights from the proposed actions include updating policies and bylaws to require new buildings, facilities, and infrastructure to be energy efficient and zero carbon.

Also, the plan would support retrofits of existing homes to clean energy use and better energy efficiency, while expanding the availability of EV charging stations for public use.

After the May info sessions, more will be posted to Engage Comox Valley.
