The Village of Cumberland has entered a long term, 10-year Operations Agreement with the Lake Park Society (LPS) for the operations and management of Cumberland Lake Park.
Over the past eight years, the society has provided operation services at Lake Park including campground and day use management, delivery of interpretive nature programs, youth camps, public events, and administration of the boat launch.
The 10-year agreement will continue to support improvements to the park infrastructure and amenities while providing revenue security to both parties. This includes continued collaborative efforts to manage parking and traffic issues at the park.
The new agreement also includes a revenue share with the K’ómoks First Nation Guardian Watchmen Program in support of their role as stewards of the K’ómoks traditional territory.
Under the terms of the Operations Agreement, 1% of gross park revenues (approximately $3500) will be submitted annually to KFN in support of the Guardian Watchmen Program.
You can find more info on the program, at Village of Cumberland.
