The Vancouver Island Crisis Society is in search of new volunteers to support others in need.

The Vancouver Island Crisis Society is in search of new volunteers to support others in need.

The Society says it has three options to train and volunteer as a Crisis Line Responder.

Training will begin on September 28th, following a schedule designed to help build foundational crisis intervention skills, via a virtual platform where modules are completed weekly at a trainee's pace with set deadlines.

Volunteers can train virtually, and in person, at the Crisis Line Centre in Nanaimo.

There are remote options as well for volunteers to assist with phone calls and texting through Vancouver Island Crisis Chat and Crisis Text, and the Talk Suicide Canada network.

You can visit the volunteering section at www.vicrisis.ca for more information.

If you need help, the Vancouver Island Crisis Line is available 24/7 at 1-888-494-3888.

Keeping Our Word

The word "éy7á7juuthem" means “Language of our People” and is the ancestral tongue of the Homalco, Tla’amin, Klahoose and K’ómoks First Nations, with dialectic differences in each community.

It is pronounced "eye-ya-jooth-hem."
