With more than 90 wildfires burning across the province and nearly 10,000 people under Evacuation Alerts and Orders, United Way BC is asking for donations in support of communities affected.

The United for BC Wildfire Recovery Fund provides assistance not only during emergencies, but throughout the months and years of recovery that follow.

Donations help local organizations respond to immediate needs while also supporting longer-term community recovery, resilience-building, and preparedness efforts.

Michael McKnight, President & CEO of United Way BC, says British Columbians have always come together to support one another in times of crisis.

He says the fund helps ensure communities have access to critical support not only during an emergency, but throughout the recovery process that follows.

United Way BC works closely with local non-profit organizations, community agencies, and emergency response partners to direct resources where they can have the greatest impact.

Funding may support essential services such as food assistance, mental health and wellness support, outreach services, community connections, and other recovery initiatives identified by local organizations.
