As part of ongoing grouped watermain projects happening in the Comox Valley, the Comox Valley Regional District needs to shut off the flow of water from the Water Treatment Plant and main reservoir to most homes in the Union Bay Water System overnight from May 29 at 9pm until 6am on May 30.
Senior Manager of Water and Wastewater Services, Kris La Rose says the shutdown is necessary to provide an important watermain connection to increase the Union Bay Water System’s resilience against future water service interruptions.
For those affected - you can learn more at Comox Valley Regional District.
Residents are asked not to shower, water plants, run the dishwasher, do laundry, or use any water during the shutdown period.
Water stored in a bathtub may be used to replenish water in toilet tanks.
The District is also advising residents to turn off power to any electric hot water tanks (if you have one).
The CVRD says the water team will try to restore water service before the time noted; however, the actual duration may depend on the watermain conditions.
