You’ll soon be able to get an Uber in Victoria and Kelowna.
The ridesharing service, in a tweet, said the Passenger Transportation Board has approved an application which will allow the company to offer services in those communities, three years after arriving in Metro Vancouver.
There’s no timeline for a start date, but the Tweet said they plan to launch soon and will have more information in the coming days.
Uber had attempted to expand just months into the pandemic. However, that application was rejected in December 2021 with the PTB saying it would be harmful to taxi companies, struggling because of pandemic related lockdowns.
There’s no word on when further expansion might happen - Uber would need to apply in each jurisdiction they wish to operate in.
