Drivers and residents in Campbell River are being asked to plan for delays and temporary service impacts after a watermain break along Island Highway South Wednesday.
City crews are on scene near 390 Island Highway South with a partial road closure in effect.
Single lane, alternating traffic is being used while repairs continue, and motorists may experience slowdowns, particularly during peak travel times.
A water shutoff is also in place for homes and businesses between 415 and 300 Island Highway South until repairs are complete. Some nearby residents outside the shutoff area may notice temporarily cloudy or discoloured water - the City says this is strictly aesthetic and does not pose a health concern.
Running cold water through a tap with higher flow, such as a bathtub faucet, should help clear the lines.
Residents with urgent water-related concerns can contact the Dogwood Operations Centre by phone or email.
Updates will be posted to the City of Campbell River's website as work progresses.
