In conjunction with the transition to the new automated curbside collection program, the Town of Comox collection zone boundaries are also being updated.

The collection zone boundaries are changing to better distribute the number of properties across the collection zones with the expectation of a more reliable waste collection program and to support future growth.

A map of the new collection zones is included with the 2024 waste collection guide that will be placed in mailboxes within the next month.

In advance of receiving the guide by mail, residents can go online to view and download a copy of the guide at Town of Comox.

In implementing the new zones for 2024, the town says it found that some of the properties located in the existing blue zone would miss a recycling pickup to begin the new year.

An additional recycling pick-up has been scheduled for the existing blue zone on Saturday, December 30, 2023.

Current blue zone residents are asked to set out their recycling before 8 a.m. on December 30 to avoid a missed pickup.

Beginning January 2, 2024, residents will begin rolling out their carts to the curb to begin the automated waste collection program.

As a refresher, the information guide, including important tips about using the carts, can be found by visiting Curbside Collection 2024 Updates.
