The Town of Comox is inviting residents to weigh in on a proposed tree bylaw at an upcoming public open house next month.
The session is set for Wednesday, April 8, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the d’Esterre Seniors’ Centre on Beaufort Avenue.
The bylaw is being developed as part of the Town’s Urban Forest Management Strategy, a long-term plan focused on how Comox will manage and care for its urban forest over the next 30 years.
Officials say the proposed bylaw is aimed at strengthening how trees are protected and replaced, while also supporting broader environmental goals outlined in the Town of Comox 2022 to 2026 Strategic Plan.
The Town says the initiative reflects its commitment to sustainability and ensuring long-term environmental health for future generations.
According to the Town, trees play a key role in the community by improving air quality, supporting wildlife habitat, and contributing to overall public health and well-being.
Residents attending the open house will have a chance to review details of the draft bylaw, ask questions, and provide feedback directly to Town staff.
Officials say input gathered during the session will help shape how the bylaw is finalized.
