Comox Town Council is supporting a 25-year lease extension for the Comox Golf Club, providing what the Town says is long-term certainty for the Club to secure financing for critical infrastructure repairs and upgrades.
The lease between Courtenay Golf Club Ltd. - a corporation in which the Town of Comox is the majority shareholder - and the non-profit Comox Golf Club will allow the Club to invest in core infrastructure, including irrigation systems and grounds improvements, that are essential to maintaining the course.
The agreement maintains the course as an active recreational space while introducing some public-use areas.
Some potential amenities include space for a public town square, community garden, and/or an active-use park.
Mayor Nicole Minions says recreation and green space are an essential part of the community’s well-being and Comox’s economic vibrancy.
Further details regarding future public access areas will be available at Town of Comox.
