The Cops for Cancer Tour de Rock is set to cross the finish line Friday in Victoria, marking the end of the two-week ride through Vancouver Island.
The annual cycling journey brings together first responders and community members who spend months training and fundraising before embarking on the 12,000 kilometre route.
The team, which includes police officers, firefighters, paramedics, military personnel, and community members, rode off from Port Alice on September 20th, with stops in communities along the way.
So far, they’ve raised about $650-thousand dollars of their $1-million goal.
Local riders include Courtenay deputy sheriff Graham Fuller, BC Highway Patrol officer Colleen Holbrook, and Courtenay firefighter Naseem Habibi.
Funds benefit the Canadian Cancer Society, supporting pediatric cancer research and programs like Camp Goodtimes, which provides a safe, fun environment for children with cancer.
There’s still time to make a donation at Cops for Cancer Tour de Rock.
