Riders in this year’s Cops for Cancer Tour de Rock make their way to Courtenay and Comox today as their two week tour of Vancouver Island continues.

They will begin the day leaving Campbell River, which they reached on Tuesday after setting out from Port Alice on Saturday.

Riders will make their way to Cumberland, Union Bay, Qualicum Beach, and Parksville on Thursday, and Port Alberni on Friday. They wrap in Victoria on October 3.

Police officers, firefighters, paramedics, military personnel, and community members, are cycling 1200 kilometres, with funds raised going to the Canadian Cancer Society, to support pediatric cancer research and caring programs like Camp Goodtimes, which provides a safe, fun environment for children with cancer.

Courtenay deputy sheriff Graham Fuller, BC Highway Patrol officer Colleen Holbrook from the Comox Valley, and Courtenay firefighter Naseem Habibi are all on the team.
