Beginning Thursday, April 25, 2024, Stewart Street in Comox will be closed for maintenance.
Work will continue through the end of next week at the intersection of Comox Ave and Stewart Street on the town’s sewer force main.
Delays are expected with work happening 7am to 8pm weekdays til Friday, May 3rd.
Motorists, cyclists, and pedestrians are advised to avoid the intersection and commute via Balmoral Avenue.
The CVRD suggests using Beaufort Ave to access homes south of Comox Avenue, and Balmoral Ave to access homes located on the north side of the intersection.
Tomorrow, a groundbreaker ceremony will officially kick off the Sewer Conveyance Project, which includes the construction of a new Courtenay Pump Station, retrofits to K’ómoks First Nation and Comox Pump Stations, and installation of more than nine kilometers of new sewer forcemain that currently moves more than 14,000 cubic metres of raw sewage each day to the sewage treatment plant.
