Comox Valley RCMP are sharing details after complaints of dirt bikes and off-road vehicles being driven dangerously on public roads.
On Saturday, November 8, RCMP conducted a targeted enforcement operation in Cumberland in response to numerous complaints.
Officers from the Street Crimes Unit, Police Dog Services, Traffic Services, and Air 8 worked together to issue 8 verbal warnings, 4 traffic tickets, 4 impoundments, and 5 arrests, along with no injuries.
Police say most riders pulled over and cooperated with police, including youths riding dirt bikes and quads within town limits.
Later in the afternoon, four dirt bikes failed to stop for police on Bevan Road. With assistance from Air 8, all four riders were located and arrested.
They received traffic tickets for 12 offences, including No Driver’s Licence, No Insurance, and Fail to Stop for Police.
Their bikes were all impounded.
Police encourage residents to continue reporting concerns so police can respond appropriately and help keep Cumberland safe.
