Comox Valley RCMP are asking for the public’s help to identify those responsible for an assault with a weapon earlier this week in Courtenay.
Police say around 3:40 pm Monday, officers received a report that a man had been shot in the face with a BB-style gun while walking in the 680-block of Cliffe Avenue.
The victim suffered a minor injury below his eye.
Investigators have obtained surveillance images of the suspect vehicle, but say the licence plate was not visible.
Mounties believe the suspect was the front passenger in an orange or red four-door Toyota sedan with at least three people inside.
The vehicle was last seen travelling up 8th Street.
Constable Monika Terragni says the incident appears to have targeted a vulnerable member of the community and called the act completely unacceptable.
Anyone with information, dash camera footage, or surveillance video is asked to contact the Comox Valley RCMP at 250-338-1321 and refer to file 2026-6697. If you wish to remain anonymous, contact Comox Valley Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
