Elections for SRD Board Directors are being held in Electoral Areas A, C, and D.

In Electoral Area B - Cortes Island - only a single candidate was nominated, and the nominee (Mark Vonesch) has been declared elected by acclamation.

The last advance vote goes today from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm at SRD’s corporate office, at 990 Cedar Street in Campbell River.

On Saturday, General Voting Day, polls will be open from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm at various locations throughout the province, for mayors, councillors, school board trustees, and area directors.

BC Transit and many local government partners across the province are offering free transit on Saturday for the municipal elections.

Decisions to offer free transit are made by local government partners in each separate community.

The Comox Valley is coming on board in offering up free rides on Saturday - and it will be the same for those using the handyDART service.

Powell River, Port Alberni, and Nanaimo have also signed up.

BC Transit says it's offering the free rides to make it easier for residents to get to the polls and cast their ballots.
