The Strathcona Regional District will be hosting a project kickoff meeting next month about the Blenkin Park Wildfire Fuel Management Project.
It’s an online event, Monday, February 5th from 7pm to 8pm.
The objective is to reduce fire risk by developing a Wildfire Fuel Management Prescription for the 17.6 hectare area park on Quadra Island.
The meeting will provide community members with an opportunity to learn more about the WFMP and ask questions.
A wildfire fuel management prescription is a standard document that describes the recommended management activities in an identified area that will reduce fire behaviour.
The SRD notes that no modification to the forest is occurring under this stage of the project.
Access the Zoom meeting link at Strathcona Regional District.
