The Strathcona Regional District is asking residents to help identify the hazards and risks facing their communities as it updates its Hazard, Risk and Vulnerability Analysis.

People in Campbell River, Cortes Island, Gold River, Sayward, Tahsis, and Zeballos are invited to take part in drop-in sessions, workshops, or an online survey running through October 9th.

The information gathered will help shape emergency planning priorities, identify local vulnerabilities, and improve preparedness for disasters and climate-related emergencies.

SRD Board Chair Mark Baker says community input is a key part of the process, noting feedback helps improve emergency planning, strengthen public education, and ensures the District focuses on the hazards that matter most.

SRD Manager of Emergency Services Shaun Koopman says technical data is important, but local knowledge helps show how hazards affect people, homes, and critical infrastructure.

Everyone who completes the survey will be entered into a draw to win 1 of 10 emergency survival kits valued at about $100 each.
