The Strathcona Regional District is looking for residents to help out with this fall’s local elections.
Election Day is Saturday, October 17, and the District is recruiting election officials to help support the process.
Election officials play an important role in ensuring voting and ballot counting processes are conducted fairly, accurately, and efficiently. Successful applicants will supervise or assist with voting and ballot counting activities at assigned voting locations.
Edith Watson, SRD Chief Election Officer, calls it a great opportunity to get involved in the community, meet new people, and be part of the democratic process.
“Being an election official is a unique and rewarding experience, and many of our election officials enjoy it so much they return election after election," she said.
All successful candidates will be required to complete a training session and take an oath of office before undertaking election duties.
Individuals who have a financial interest or any other interest in the outcome of the election will not be considered for these positions.
Each position has unique responsibilities, qualifications, and experience requirements.
Applicants should ensure they meet the criteria for the position they are applying for and select the role that best matches their knowledge, skills, and experience.
