A pair of info sessions today as the Strathcona Regional District looks to establish a Wharves Service for Area C residents.
The service is needed in order for the SRD to access federal funding for upkeep.
The SRD has been given funding for upgrades to Owen Bay (on Sonora Island), Surge Narrows (on Read Island) and Port Neville (in Johnstone Strait).
The wharves were divested to the SRD in 2014 and funding was provided to operate and maintain them for ten years. Now, the deadline to complete necessary upgrades using the Transport Canada funding is approaching.
The district wants to hear from tax payers on how to move forward. The first session begins at 11:00 am at the Quadra Community Centre and the second starts at 2:15 pm at the Surge Narrows Bunk House.
