The Strathcona Regional District has confirmed its leadership team for the coming year.
At Thursday’s inaugural board meeting, Director Mark Baker was re-appointed as Chair, marking his fourth consecutive term in the role.
Baker also serves as Mayor of Sayward.
Director Mark Vonesch, who represents Cortes Island in Electoral Area B, has been elected as Vice-Chair for the 2025/26 term.
Each year, regional districts are required by provincial legislation to choose their Chair and Vice-Chair at the first meeting after November 1.
The SRD says its work this term will continue to be guided by its current strategic priorities: building stronger community connections, maintaining sustainable services, and strengthening relationships across the region.
The Board includes 14 directors in total — nine municipal representatives, four elected electoral area directors, and one First Nations director.
