By Jay Herrington

Aside from trick or treating on Friday, there’s lots going on in Campbell River and the Comox Valley.

Campbell River’s Downtown Trick or Treat, runs from 3 to 5:30 p.m. when people are encouraged to dress up and visit local businesses.

At the LINC Youth Centre it’s “Half the Fright Night”’, a gentler version of their Haunted House, designed for younger kids and those who prefer a less spooky experience.

For more information, call The LINC at 250-334-8138 or the Lewis Centre at 250-338-5371

Fireworks are back at the Campbell River Sportsplex where residents can take in the show starting at 8pm.

In Courtenay, the annual Halloween Parade and Party gets underway at 3 p.m. downtown, with a family-friendly trick-or-treat parade along 4th, 5th, and 6th Streets.

Local businesses will be handing out candy and small prizes along the route.

From 4 to 7 p.m., the Lewis Centre is hosting a Halloween party featuring carnival games, arts and crafts, a photo booth, and free treats.

Downtown Comox starts to buzz beginning at 3:30 p.m., with treats, games and the Comox Halloween Costume Parade.

Zumba Zombies will swarm Comox Avenue with thrilling performances of Michael Jackson’s Thriller and the Monster Mash, while kids can enjoy classic games.

The Comox Library will once again host its popular Halloween book giveaway.

Children 12 and under can show off their costumes in the very first Comox Halloween Parade Costume Contest.

Registration begins at 3:30 p.m. - limited to the first 25 entries - with judging at 4:30 p.m.

Cumberland’s All Hallows’ Eve Parade gets underway this afternoon at the Cumberland Cultural Centre.

Residents are meeting up for dancing at 4 p.m. before heading out at 4:10 p.m. ‘en masse’ for the parade and big Halloween dance off at 5:00 p.m. on Dunsmuir Ave.

You can also check out the haunted Cumberland Museum.
