Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement in relation to the heat.

Temperatures will continue to remain well above seasonal for the next day or so for East and Inland Vancouver Island. However, cooler temperatures overnight will give some relief.

The very warm conditions are expected to persist until Thursday when cloud cover is expected.

It’s recommended that you consider rescheduling outdoor activities, if possible, to the morning or evening hours when temperatures are cooler.

Watch for the effects of heat illness including, heavy sweating, rash, cramps, fainting, high body temperature and the worsening of some health conditions.

It is a reminder to never leave susceptible people, particularly children, or pets inside a parked vehicle.

And Environment Canada suggests if you are in an overheated area, seek a cool place such as a tree-shaded area, splash pad, misting station, or air-conditioned spot like a public building.
