School District 72 is hosting an info session next week for those interested in its international student program.
It’s a chance to ask questions and explore how hosting a student works; what’s involved, support received, and how to apply.
The District is actively seeking host families for both short- and long-term placements with their largest intake of 70 students arriving in August.
They’ll also need hosts throughout the year for respite stays, student moves, and new arrivals.
Hosts are expected to provide a safe, welcoming home, while offering parental guidance and supervision, and healthy meals. A private bedroom and secure WiFi is also a must.
Hosts receive $1050 per month, per student, along with training, coaching, and ongoing support.
Anyone can become a host - from retirees to couples, and families with children, and individuals.
The session takes place Tuesday, February 10 at 6 p.m. at the board office on Pinecrest Road.
