The Sayward Futures Society has been awarded funding through the BC Government's Rural Economic Diversification and Infrastructure Program to support the enhancement of the Kelsey Bay Wharf.
This investment will enable critical upgrades to the wharf, ensuring its continued role as a vital hub for marine activity, tourism, and community engagement in the Sayward region.
The improvements aim to bolster local economic development, support sustainable infrastructure, and enhance the visitor experience.
Society Chair Jason Johnson says the wharf is more than just a dock - it’s a cornerstone of the community. He says the funding will help preserve and enhance the wharf for residents, visitors, and local businesses alike.
The REDIP initiative, administered by the Ministry of Jobs, Economic Development and Innovation, provides financial support to rural communities for projects that promote economic diversification, resilience, and clean growth opportunities.
The Sayward Futures Society is a non-profit organization dedicated to the sustainable operation of the Kelsey Bay Wharf and other community initiatives.
