Sayward Clean-Up Days will take place this weekend.

Household waste that is too large for regular curbside collection as well as recyclables that normally need to be taken to Campbell River can be dropped off for proper disposal at the Main Road Yard, on Island Highway, in Sayward, from 9am to 4pm Saturday and Sunday.

You can visit Sayward Clean Up Days for a list of accepted items and materials - which include: scrap metal, car tires, furniture, and large and small appliances.

Things like drywall, unidentifiable household hazardous waste, and fertilizer isn’t being accepted.

Habitat for Humanity ReStore in Campbell River will be on-site to collect gently used household items for donation.

Visit Habitat for Humanity for more information on accepted items.

And, once again, Tire Stewardship BC has partnered with Comox Strathcona Waste Management to collect residential scrap tires.

The scrap tires that are turned in will be recycled and turned into new products such as community playground surfaces, athletic tracks, recreational flooring in ice skating areas, fitness rooms and home gym mats.

Since 1991, over 100 million tires have been recycled in B.C.  TSBC’s scrap tire recycling program is one of the most successful in North America and the oldest recycling program in Canada.

Every year in B.C. over five million scrap car tires are recycled into new products.

Keeping Our Word

The word "éy7á7juuthem" means “Language of our People” and is the ancestral tongue of the Homalco, Tla’amin, Klahoose and K’ómoks First Nations, with dialectic differences in each community.

It is pronounced "eye-ya-jooth-hem."
