Residents in the Sayward area are being encouraged to start gathering unwanted household items ahead of this summer's annual clean-up days.
The Strathcona Regional District says Sayward Clean-Up Days will take place July 18th and 19th at the Main Road Yard, located at 797 Island Highway in Sayward.
The event will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days and gives residents an opportunity to dispose of household waste that is too large for regular curbside collection. Small and large appliances, electronics, and tires will also be accepted.
Officials note that drywall and hazardous waste materials will not be accepted.
Residents are reminded that motor oil, oil filters, antifreeze, cardboard, metal containers, foam packaging, and both hard and soft plastics can be taken to the Sayward Recycling Depot instead, as those materials are banned from regular garbage disposal.
People bringing items to the clean-up event will be responsible for unloading and sorting their own materials.
Representatives from Habitat for Humanity ReStore will also be on site collecting gently used household items for donation and reuse.
