For the month of November, the Salvation Army is holding its 28th Annual Coats for Kids campaign.

Captain Violet Hopkins, with Ocean Crest Ministries & the Salvation Army, says you can donate coats until the end of the month to all Campbell River Salvation Army locations.

The Centre of Hope, 1381 Cedar Street

Evergreen Shelter, 690 Evergreen Road

Family Thrift Store, #100-1100 Homewood Road

Ocean Crest Community Church, 291 McLean Street

Hopkins says they’re accepting coats for all ages as they have many families in family services that cannot afford winter clothing.

If you’d like to volunteer to help sort coats, contact Karen Floor, Volunteer Coordinator at 250-287-3720, ext. 201.

Keeping Our Word

The word "éy7á7juuthem" means “Language of our People” and is the ancestral tongue of the Homalco, Tla’amin, Klahoose and K’ómoks First Nations, with dialectic differences in each community.

It is pronounced "eye-ya-jooth-hem."
