BC Hydro has begun increasing spill from the Comox Dam to help manage reservoir levels following the week’s fish migration flow.
Due to the powerhouse being out of service, all released water is being directed down the Barber’s Hole, Nymph Falls, and Stotan Falls section of the river.
Flows in those areas could be as high as 30 m³/s - about double the normal flow for this time of year, until spill reductions begin Monday to help with next week’s fish migration flows.
BC Hydro has issued an advisory to stay out of the Barber’s Hole, Nymph Falls, and Stotan Falls section of the Puntledge River, from the diversion dam to the powerhouse, starting today through Monday, June 23.
Public safety signage will be in place.
