The Rotary Club of Campbell River has wrapped up another successful year of fundraising for global polio eradication.
The club’s End Polio Now Committee held several events around World Polio Day on October 24th, including two pumpkin auctions: one at the Riptide Pub and another at a Rotary meeting.
The pumpkins were carved and painted by local artists, with proceeds from the Riptide event alone reaching about $7,800.
Additional fundraising by residents of Berwick by the Sea added over $2,100, bringing the club’s total contribution to approximately $14,000.
With matching funds from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, that amount will triple to around $42,000.
The Rotary Club says the strong community support - from artists, donors, and volunteers - continues to make a real impact in the ongoing effort to end polio worldwide.
