Firearms charges for a 42 year old man after Comox Valley RCMP executed a search warrant in Courtenay on Canada Day.

The day prior, on June 30th, RCMP received a report of uttering threats.

Police say the threats were reported to be direct and serious and were witnessed by an officer attending the scene.

Police obtained a search warrant for a residence associated with the suspect.

The Emergency Response Team, crisis negotiators, Police Dog Services, and frontline officers were all on scene, where police located a firearm.

Four people inside the home were arrested and one of them is now facing charges.

The Comox Valley RCMP says Derrick Bullen has been charged with uttering threats, unauthorized possession of a firearm, and possession of a firearm while prohibited.

He remains in custody pending his next court appearance.
