Pride Celebrations in Campbell River are underway.
While the big event is happening Saturday, the North Island Pride Society is kicking things off tonight with a ‘’Very Queer Evening of Comedy,’’ at River City Stage.
Tomorrow, it’s Country Music Night at the Campbell River Art Gallery. Organizers are calling that an evening of ‘’old-school alt country’’ with ‘’soulful songwriting, sweet harmonies, and boot-stompin’ fun’’.
On Saturday, you’ll find vendors, community art, musicians, food trucks, activities and more at Spirit Square from 2pm to 5pm.
North Island Pride Society started as an informal group of volunteers who banded together to put on the annual Campbell River Pride Festival.
The first festival was held in 2015 and was a continuation of the work of CR Pride and the Walk Away from Homophobia.
North Island Pride Society was officially incorporated as a non-profit in British Columbia in 2017.
Schedules and info can be found at North Island Pride Society.
