The BC government is preparing legislation to repeal a carbon tax on British Columbians.
It’s in response to new Prime Minister Mark Carney, sworn-in on Friday, announced he would be eliminating the federal carbon tax on consumers.
Premier David Eby says while the Province eliminates its consumer carbon tax, the government will “continue to ensure big industrial polluters pay their fair share by maintaining an effective price on carbon for large emitters.“
He says the goal is to incentivize industry to adopt lower-carbon technologies while maintaining their competitiveness.
