The City of Campbell River has completed Phase 1 of its Master Transportation Plan.

Public input was key to the report -- the City received 404 survey responses from a variety of sources, including an Ideas Fair, a booth at the Farmers’ Market and online submissions.

Feedback included information related to existing travel patterns for the pedestrian and trail network, cycling network, transit network, street and traffic conditions, and parking.

Among other things, Campbell River residents expressed concern with the lack of and condition o

sidewalks in the city, vehicles not stopping for pedestrians at crosswalks, and feeling unsafe while cycling.

The next steps include the development of a vision, goals and strategic directions for walking, cycling, transit, vehicle and goods movement based on community feedback, and the work completed in Phase 1. In early 2023, the City will seek further input from the community as the planning process progresses.

A summary of the community engagement results is available on the City’s website, https://www.campbellriver.ca/city-services/roads-transportation-parking/plans-reports-studies/master-transportation-plan-2022

It is pronounced "eye-ya-jooth-hem."
