Courtenay Recreation is inviting everyone to get moving this June as part of the ParticipACTION Community Challenge.
The nationwide physical activity initiative encourages individuals, organizations and communities across Canada to get active.
At the end of the challenge, one community will be named Canada’s Most Active Community and receive $100,000 to support local sport and physical activity initiatives.
The challenge runs June 1 to 30 and is open to all Canadians. Organizations can register their activities, programs and events on the ParticipACTION website and track their progress. Individuals can also join by pledging to be active throughout the month, helping boost Courtenay’s overall score.
The rec team will also be offering a variety of activities in June, including free fitness classes, archery, family gymnastics, pickleball lessons and more.
“We’re excited to bring the community together through movement,” said Nicole Spooner, Active Living Programmer with the City of Courtenay.
“Whether you’re trying a new activity or joining a group event, it’s a great way to boost your health, meet new people and celebrate being active in Courtenay.”
