Parents and caregivers across B.C. are encouraged to share feedback through the province’s annual Student Learning Survey.
The survey, run by the British Columbia Ministry of Education and Child Care, is open until May 1, and is designed to give schools, districts and the province a better understanding of student learning, well-being and overall school experience.
Each year, the survey is completed by students in Grades 4, 7, 10, 11 and 12, along with parents, caregivers and school staff. It includes questions on topics such as school environment, safety, achievement and sense of belonging.
Officials say the results are used to help guide planning, highlight strengths and identify areas that may need improvement within schools and districts.
Parent participation is considered an important part of the process, as it helps round out the feedback provided by students and staff and offers a more complete picture of how students are doing.
The survey is voluntary and anonymous, with responses stored in Canada and not linked to individual students.
Parents can complete the survey at Government of British Columbia.
It takes about 30 minutes to finish.
