The Canadian Forces School of Search and Rescue is holding Parachute Proficiency Training this week at 19 Wing Comox.
Comox Valley residents may see the Royal Canadian Air Force CH-149 Cormorant and CC130H Hercules flying overhead with parachutists training from approximately 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. daily until Friday.
The parachutists will be primarily landing on the 19 Wing Comox airfield and adjacent
community.
The Canadian Armed Forces says training is essential to effectively coordinate aeronautical and maritime Search and Rescue operations.
Search and Rescue Technicians are highly trained specialists who provide advanced pre-hospital medical care and rescue for aviators, mariners and others in distress in remote or hard-to-reach areas.
The scheduled times are dependent on the weather and may change to ensure the safety of the participants.
While the community is welcome to observe and photograph parachute operations, residents are asked not to approach the landing zones.
