The Canadian Forces School of Search and Rescue is conducting parachute training for students and recertification training for Search and Rescue (SAR) Techs at 19 Wing Comox for the next couple of weeks.
Comox residents may hear the Skyvan, a twin engine aircraft, flying overhead and see parachutists training from approximately 6:00 to 9:00 a.m. daily through May 10th.
The training and recertification is essential to ensure the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) are able to respond to the needs of Canadians.
Search and Rescue Technicians are highly trained specialists who provide advanced pre-hospital medical care and rescue for aviators, mariners, and others in distress in remote or hard-to-reach areas.
The skies over the Comox Valley have been busy a lot of the month with the Snowbirds and CF-18 Demo Team have also been training.
The Comox Air Show will take place Saturday, May 18th.
