Beginning Friday, Category 2 and Category 3 open burning will be prohibited across the Coastal Fire Centre, which includes Vancouver Island.
The prohibition will be in place until at least October 31st.
The ban does not include Category 1 campfires that are a half-metre high by a half-metre wide or smaller, or cooking stoves that use gas, propane, or briquettes.
Also banned are the use of fireworks and sky lanterns, burn barrels or burn cages, binary exploding targets, and air curtain burners.
